3D print troubleshooter

Find a 3D printing problem by what it looks like — stringing, warping, ringing, layer shifts, under-extrusion, resin failures and more — then work through its causes, most likely first, with the fix and a quick test for each.

How to use it
  • Start with the seven checks at the top: wet filament, a dirty bed, and a wrong Z offset cause a large share of all problems.

  • Find the symptom: type what you see in your own words ("strings", "corners lifting", "lines on the walls") or filter by FDM/resin and area.

  • Work down the causes: they are ordered from most to least likely. Each has the setting or hardware change to try, and most problems have a quick test print to confirm the fix. Tick causes as you rule them out; the checklist is remembered in this browser.

  • Change one thing at a time, and keep notes — otherwise you never learn which change fixed it.

Sharing

Share link copies a URL that opens this tool exactly as you have it set up. It opens the selected problem (your checklist progress stays private). Opening a link replaces your own saved settings for the tool; a Restore my settings button brings them back. To write a link by hand, use problem, q, tech — for example /tools/print-troubleshoot/?problem=stringing.
