Project cost quote
Price a job for a member or a customer — sheet goods by area, filament and resin by weight, consumables, machine time at each machine's member and non-member rate (the laser estimated from cut length and speed), labour, design time, setup, waste and markup, discount, VAT or sales tax and a deposit — and print the quote with its line items and terms. Saved quotes, duplicates, any currency.

Works with

How to use it
For pricing commission work and members' jobs on the space’s machines. Fill in what the job uses and it’s priced for members and non-members side by side; print the one you’re quoting.
How to use it
-
Rates & settings first: currency (any ISO code — GBP, EUR, USD, JPY…), the tax name and rate, labour and design rates per hour, and each machine’s hourly rate for members and non-members (leave the non-member rate blank to charge members' rate plus a percentage). Import machines takes a space file (
{"machines":[{"id":"laser","name":"Laser cutter","rate":30}…]}), JSON or CSV, merging by id. Use this browser’s space file reads the one the machine induction and machine cards tools keep here. Set the defaults for new quotes: waste, markup, deposit, how long a quote is valid, your details and terms. -
+ New quote (or Load an example quote). Give it a job name and a client, and say whether it’s a member’s price.
-
Add lines:
-
Sheet material — the part size and how many, the sheet size and its price; charged by the area used, or by whole sheets. To find how many sheets a set of parts really needs, lay it out in the cut list optimizer.
-
Filament / resin — grams × price per kg. For the grams, read the slicer’s estimate into the 3D print cost quoter or Filament and print cost; for resin pours use the epoxy and resin pour calculator.
-
Consumable and Other — quantity × unit price.
-
Machine time — in minutes, in hours (3-D printing), or for a laser from the cut length (mm), speed (mm/s), passes, a travel allowance (%) and engraving minutes: length × passes ÷ speed, plus travel, plus engraving. Each machine has a member and a non-member rate. Test cuts for the speed: laser test patterns.
-
Labour, Design time — hours at the standard rate, or a rate for this line.
-
Setup fee — a fixed amount.
-
-
Adjustments: waste %, markup % (on materials, or on everything), a discount, the tax rate and the deposit (a percentage or a fixed amount).
-
Print shows the quote as it will print — your details, the client, each line with its quantity and unit price, the totals, the deposit and balance, notes and terms. Print or save as PDF, or download it as an HTML file.
Duplicate copies a quote under the next number (Q-2026-014) as a new draft — useful for “the same
again, but 20 of them”. Each quote keeps a copy of the rates it was priced at, so changing your rates
doesn’t change quotes you’ve sent; Use current rates re-prices one.
How the sums are done
All money is kept in whole pence (or cents, or yen), rounded half away from zero, so the printed lines always add up to the printed total:
-
each line is quantity × unit price, rounded;
-
waste is a percentage of the sheet and filament/resin lines (not consumables);
-
markup is a percentage of materials plus waste (or of every line, if you choose);
-
the discount comes off that sum, giving the net;
-
tax is a percentage of the net;
-
the deposit is a percentage of the total (or the fixed amount), and the balance is the rest.
Where quotes are kept
In this browser’s storage (IndexedDB), with the rates. There is no server: to have the same quotes on another device, export a sync file under Data and import it there; records merge by the newest edit, and deleted quotes stay deleted. The sync file is shared with the tool library checkout and machine booking tools. Quotes CSV exports a list for your accounts.
