How to use it
The falling-block puzzle, wrapped round a tower. The well is sixteen columns that go all the way round, so there are no side walls: a piece can hang over the seam, and a ring is only full when the back of the tower is full too. Moving a piece left or right turns the tower under it, and the piece always stays in front of you.
The pieces are my own set of eight: a three-square rod and a three-square elbow, and six of the five-square shapes (cup, flag, star, anchor, stairs and bolt). None of the classic four-square pieces. The fives are awkward on purpose; the rod and elbow are for patching.
How to play
Fill every column of a row — a whole ring — to clear it; the rings above drop. Clearing several at once scores more (100, 300, 600, 1000, 1500 × level), and clearing on piece after piece adds a combo bonus. A hard drop scores 2 a row, a soft drop 1. The game ends when a piece can’t come in at the top, or lands entirely above the red line.
-
Marathon: endless; every 10 rings is a level, and each level the pieces fall about a fifth faster. You can start at levels 1–10.
-
Rising: every few seconds a ring of rubble with a gap or two pushes up from below, more often as you level up.
-
Dig: ten rings of rubble to clear, against the clock.
The map at the top right is the whole tower unrolled, centred on your piece, so you can see what is round the back. The ghost shows where the piece will land (turn it off with Ghost).
-
Keyboard: ← → (or A D) turn the tower, holding repeats; ↑ or X rotates clockwise, Z anticlockwise; ↓ soft drop; Space hard drop; C or Shift hold; P or Esc pause; M mute; F full screen.
-
Touch: the buttons along the bottom, or swipe sideways on the tower to turn it, tap to rotate, and flick down to drop.
-
Gamepad: d-pad or left stick to turn and soft drop, d-pad up or Y to hard drop, A and B rotate, X or a shoulder button holds, Start pauses.
Low graphics turns off the sparks and lowers the resolution; the game also lowers its resolution by itself if frames come slowly. Shake turns screen shake off (it is off already if your system asks for reduced motion). High scores for each mode are kept in this browser.
The other game in this batch is Marble tilt. To check a controller first, use the gamepad tester.
