WebSocket tester
Connect to any WebSocket, send text, JSON, or binary frames, and watch a timestamped log with sizes, echo round-trip times, filtering, and export.
Added
How to use it
Enter a wss:// URL (optionally with subprotocols) and press Connect. Endpoints… offers
three public echo servers that send back whatever you send — echo.websocket.org,
ws.postman-echo.com/raw, and ws.ifelse.io — and any endpoints you save.
Sending
Choose Text, JSON (validated and minified before sending), or Binary (hex) — type bytes
such as de ad be ef. Cmd/Ctrl + Enter sends. Keep as snippet saves the current message
as a button; right-click a snippet to remove it. Send … every N s sends a keep-alive
message on a timer (WebSocket ping frames themselves cannot be sent from a browser).
The log
Every frame is listed with its time (to the millisecond), direction (↑ sent, ↓ received), and size; binary frames show a hex and ASCII preview, and JSON is pretty-printed. When a received message matches something you sent, its round-trip time is shown — handy with echo servers. Filter, pause (incoming messages are counted while paused), clear, or export the log as JSON. Close events explain their code (1006 means the connection dropped without a proper close, which is also how browsers report refused or blocked connections).
Auto-reconnect retries with increasing delays (1, 2, 4 … 30 seconds). Close with sets the close code (1000 or 3000–4999) and reason.
Because this page is served over HTTPS, browsers block plain ws:// connections except to
localhost. The tool talks only to the server you connect to.
Sharing
Share link copies a URL that opens this tool exactly as configured. ?url= and ?msg=, plus mode, protocols, ping, pingMsg, reconnect when changed. A link never connects. Query parameters that look like credentials (token, key, auth, signature…) and user:password@ are blanked.
For example: websocket/?url=wss%3A%2F%2Fecho.websocket.org&msg=hello.
