Closet organiser

Plan a reach-in or walk-in closet as sections — double hang, long hang, medium hang, shelves, drawers and shoe shelves — with rod heights from published closet guidance, rod and shoe capacity, elevations, plan and isometric, a cut list for the towers, shelves and drawer boxes, a shopping list, and install steps.

How to use it

Choose reach-in (one wall) or walk-in (a back wall plus one or two side walls), the ceiling height, and then the sections along each wall. Leave a section’s width blank to share whatever is left equally.

How to use it

  • Hanging sections get rods at the heights Organized Living’s closet guide gives for a 96" ceiling: long hang 68", medium hang 56", short hang 42", double hang 84" and 42", triple hang (children’s clothes) 84", 56" and 28". Lower ceilings pull the top rod down to leave room for the shelf above it. The checks list what hangs clear from each rod, from the same guide’s garment lengths (shirts 38–40", suits 39–42", dresses 46–66", long gowns 72–78", hanger included).

  • Accessible keeps rods at 48" or lower — the top of the forward-reach range in the 2010 ADA Standards (§308.2.1).

  • Shelves, drawers + shelves and shoe shelves are towers: two panels (shared with a neighbouring tower), a toe kick, a top, and shelves on 32 mm shelf-pin holes. Drawer boxes are sized for Accuride 3832 side-mount slides with the drawers and doors tool’s maths; shoe shelves slope with a fence, about 7" apart, about 9" per pair.

  • Capacity: about 1" of rod per shirt and 2-1/2" per jacket — typical figures, so a guide only.

The Drawings tab has an elevation of every wall (with garment outlines under each rod), a plan for walk-ins, and an isometric (⛶ Full screen or f; Escape leaves). Cut list packs the panels onto 4×8 sheets; Shopping adds rods, flanges, centre supports, slides and screws; Steps goes from finding the studs to the top shelf. Print view prints the lot.

Rules of thumb (labelled in the checks): reach-ins at least 24" deep, walk-ins at least 4′ × 4′, a 36" aisle, rods about 12" from the wall, and a centre support on any rod longer than about 48".

Limits

Straight walls only; corners in a walk-in are left to you (the side walls start in front of the back wall’s sections). Drawers use side-mount slides; doors, hampers, mirrors and lighting are not included.
