Drawer boxes and cabinet doors
Drawer box sizes from the opening and the slide maker's published clearances (Blum TANDEM and MOVENTO, Accuride 3832), joinery allowances and fronts; cabinet doors full overlay, half overlay or inset with reveals, Euro hinge cup boring and hinge count, and shaker rail, stile and panel sizes — with drawings, cut list, steps and a print view.

How to use it
Measure the opening — inside the carcase — and its depth, pick drawers or doors, and how the fronts sit: full overlay covers the carcase edges, half overlay shares a partition with the next door, inset sits inside the opening with an even reveal.
How to use it
Drawers
Choose the slides; the box width, length and the bottom’s position come from the maker’s published numbers, so the box fits the slide first time:
-
Blum MOVENTO (technical data sheet TD-132/1): inside drawer width = opening − 42 mm, drawer length = nominal length − 10 mm, sides at most 16 mm thick, the bottom recessed 12–15 mm (the runners hide under it), at least 7 mm above the box, and a cabinet at least nominal length + 3 mm deep.
-
Blum TANDEM 563H: the same width and length rules; about 9/16" below and 1/4" above the sides and the bottom set 1/2" up, as Popular Woodworking’s guide to sizing TANDEM drawers explains.
-
Accuride 3832 side-mount: the slide is 12.7 mm (1/2") thick, so the box is exactly 1" narrower than the opening, and its sides must be at least the slide’s 45.7 mm height. 3832EC (soft close) needs 1-1/16" (27 mm) in total.
-
Wooden runners: about 1/32" (1 mm) each side — a rule of thumb.
The tool picks the longest slide that fits the depth (inset fronts take their thickness off it). With several drawers, graduated fronts grow by a quarter each step down; each box gets its share of the opening less the slide’s vertical clearance. Joinery sets the front and back lengths: butt joints sit between the sides; rabbets or dados reach halfway into them; through dovetails and box joints run the full width. Vertical clearances other than Blum’s are rules of thumb — check the slide’s instructions.
Doors
Two doors split the coverage less one gap. The tool places Euro hinges by Blum’s planning guideline (up to 900 mm tall: 2, 1600 mm: 3, 2000 mm: 4, 2400 mm: 5 — heavy or wide doors need more), each cup 35 mm across and 13 mm deep, centred 17.5 mm + C from the door edge (C, the boring distance, is usually 3–6 mm), with the screw or dowel holes 45 mm apart and 9.5 mm towards the edge. The arm follows the mounting: straight for full overlay, a 9.5 mm crank for half overlay, an 18 mm crank for inset; the exact overlay depends on C and the mounting plate, so read it off the hinge maker’s chart. Plates sit on the System 32 line, 37 mm from the front edge.
Shaker doors: stiles run the full height; rails are door width − 2 stiles + 2 tongues; the panel is the frame opening + 2 tongues − the gap you leave each side. Solid-wood panels move across the grain — see the wood movement tool before you choose the gap.
The Drawings tab has the front elevation, a side section showing the slide and the bottom recess (or
the hinge boring detail), the box plan or shaker parts, and an isometric (⛶ Full screen or f;
Escape leaves). Cut list, Shopping and Steps follow; Print view prints everything.
Limits
Frameless (European) cabinets; face-frame doors and drawers need the face frame’s own allowances. Slide data as published by the makers at the time of writing — models change, so check the current sheet. Drawer fronts are plain slabs; hinge overlay charts are not reproduced.
